How to choose the perfect vase
How to choose the perfect vase.
💫 Location. Where in your home will your flowers be located? If it’s a showstopper in your hallway, on the dining table or the kitchen island, your arrangement will be viewed from all sides and the flowers need to be at eye level, so it’s important not to have your vase too tall. On a coffee table your arrangement will often be seen from above, so a short vase might be better.
💫 Style. When choosing a vessel for your flowers, consider the style of vase. Choose something that complements your house style: traditional or contemporary. Clear glass vases are a classic contemporary favourite. Other options include ceramic jugs, jars or vases.
💫 Proportion. With your pre arranged @fentonyardflowers bouquets it’s best to have a wide tapered vase with the pinched waist, allowing the flowers to be kept together. The wide base allows the stems to cross the vase giving space for larger flowers to open. Other vases include bud vases (for single stems), column vases (for twigs or tall flowers such a gladioli) and fish bowl or round vases (for flowers with larger heads such as hydrangeas, roses and peonies). My favourite is an apothecary vase as it holds the floral arrangement in perfect balance, allowing each flower to be admired.
Once you have decided your location, style and proportion, cut your stems according to the height of your vase: ideally the top of the vase is half way up the height of your arrangement.
